# Yubi (ゆび)

> Hold a key, speak, let go. The words land in the app in front of you. Transcription finishes on this Mac and the audio goes nowhere. A dictation app for macOS 26.

Yubi is a press to talk dictation app for macOS 26 on Apple Silicon. Speech is transcribed on the Mac by Apple's SpeechAnalyzer or by whisper.cpp, and no audio ever leaves the machine. It asks for the microphone and Accessibility only, never Screen Recording. An optional feature reads the frontmost window's accessibility tree (not a screenshot) and points at the control to click; with a switch it can press it. Text leaves the Mac only when the user asks: optional cleanup of dictated words, and screen help, whose exact payload is shown before it is sent. Both go through Yubi's own server at api.yubichan.ai to Claude. Dictation does not require an account. Tasks (screen help) sign in with an emailed link and a 4 digit code, never a password, and paid plans bill through Stripe from the app. The app contains no analytics or automatic updater. - Requirements: macOS 26 or later, Apple Silicon, microphone and Accessibility permissions.
- Not on the Mac App Store: the sandbox cannot run the bundled whisper.cpp.
- Dictation costs nothing and works without an account. A task is one spoken request about the screen, answered by Claude through Yubi's server.
- Plans: Free ¥0 with 10 tasks a month (5 a day); Personal ¥1,480 a month (¥14,800 a year) with 60 tasks; Pro ¥2,980 a month (¥29,800 a year) with 150 tasks. Upgrade inside the app.
- Application bundle about 5 MB.
